Looking for an FTP Alternative?

Although FTP is condemned by many for its downfalls such as lack of security, limited file compatibility, absence of tracking and automation features and complex user interfaces - the protocol itself is ideal for efficiently pushing and pulling data across IP networks.

Despite these drawbacks, FTP is still a well known and widely used file transfer protocol most likely due to its inexpensive nature and ability to integrate seamlessly with internal workflows.  StingRay is an alternative to traditional FTP, still developed using the FTP protocol but incorporating all of the value added features and functionality lacking with traditional FTP.

StingRay's FTP File Transfer Features

Security - StingRay provides greater security than any other traditional FTP server.  With 2 physically separate network adaptors, routing functionality has been removed and there is no direct connection between a companies internal network and the internet.

Usability - Alongside the standard internal web browser interface, StingRay provides a simple and intuitive client application for internal users.  With drag and drop file sending, it really couldn't be any easier to send large files using StingRay.

Compatibility - StingRay manages to overcome the incompatibility of files created by Mac OS and Windows platforms. Data and resource fork problems do not occur with StingRay's extensive file-type creator options.

Reporting and Tracking - StingRay automatically checks and logs the date and time that a file is sent or received, providing users with a full audit trail.  It also sends an automatic email notification to the sender and receiver, making them aware that the transmission has taken place.

Automation - StingRay provides the ability to automatically forward files into internal workflows and automatically send files to external customers when dropped into monitored hot-folders on the server.
